Our Mini Pantanal Tour is our budget-friendly option for the Pantanal, designed for travelers who seek an authentic experience while keeping costs accessible. You will stay in rustic yet deeply authentic pantaneiro lodges, offering a genuine connection to the culture and rhythms of life in this unique region.
This tour is crafted for those who want to experience the richness of the Pantanal in a short time — without compromising on the depth and quality of wildlife encounters.
Over the course of four days, you will journey through a carefully selected combination of lodges and remote river regions, allowing you to explore different ecosystems and maximize your chances of seeing a wide variety of species.
From the moment you leave Cuiabá, the landscape begins to transform into one of the most biodiverse wetlands on the planet, where every transition reveals new habitats and wildlife.
Your days will be a blend of land and river safaris. At Pouso Alegre, you will explore the Pantanal by safari truck, venturing deep into the savanna in search of mammals, birds, and reptiles, followed by a night safari to discover the nocturnal life of the region.
As you move towards Porto Jofre, the experience shifts to the water, where boat safaris take you along winding rivers — the best setting to observe wildlife along the banks, including capybaras, caimans, giant otters, and, with luck, jaguars.
This itinerary is crafted to optimize every moment, combining different environments and observation techniques to offer a dynamic and immersive experience.
You will be accompanied by one of our experienced guides, available in English, Spanish, Italian, or Portuguese, ensuring a seamless and enriching journey from start to finish.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Into the Heart of the Pantanal
Your journey begins in Cuiabá, where you will be picked up from the airport or your hotel early in the morning. As you travel south, the urban landscape gradually gives way to open wetlands, and your first wildlife sightings often begin even before reaching the lodge.
Upon arrival at Pouso Alegre around midday, you will settle into your rustic pantaneiro lodge and enjoy a traditional lunch. In the afternoon, after a short introduction to the region and its wildlife, you will head out on your first safari by truck, exploring the surrounding savanna in search of mammals, birds, and reptiles.
After dinner, the experience continues with a night safari — a unique opportunity to observe the Pantanal’s nocturnal life, from caimans reflecting in the darkness to elusive species that only emerge after sunset.
Days 2 - From Land to Water
The day begins early with breakfast before departing deeper into the Pantanal towards Porto Jofre, one of the most remote and wildlife-rich areas of the region.
Arriving late in the morning, you will check into your lodge or boat hotel and have lunch before heading out for your first boat safari. Navigating the rivers that define this landscape, you will begin to explore the waterways where wildlife gathers along the banks.
This transition from land to river marks a new phase of the journey, offering a completely different perspective and increasing the chances of encountering iconic species such as giant otters and, potentially, jaguars. The day ends with dinner and time to rest surrounded by the sounds of the forest and river.

Day 4 - Final Safari and Return to Cuiabá
Your final day begins before sunrise with breakfast and a last morning boat safari — often one of the most rewarding times to be on the water, when wildlife is most active and the landscape is at its most atmospheric.
After returning for lunch, you will begin your journey back to Cuiabá in the early afternoon, carrying with you the memories of an intense and authentic experience in one of the most unique environments on Earth.
Arrival is expected in the late afternoon, marking the end of your Mini Pantanal adventure.
Day 3 - Full Immersion in Jaguar Territory
This is the most immersive day of the tour. After an early breakfast, you will spend the entire day on the river, with a packed lunch to maximize your time in the field.
From sunrise to late afternoon, you will navigate the intricate river system of Porto Jofre, widely regarded as the best place in the world to observe jaguars in the wild. Your guide will carefully track signs of wildlife activity, scanning the riverbanks where animals come to rest, hunt, and move through their territory.
Beyond jaguars, the day offers countless encounters with the Pantanal’s rich biodiversity — from troops of capybaras and basking caimans to colorful birdlife and playful giant otters. It is a day dedicated to patience, observation, and truly connecting with the natural rhythms of this extraordinary ecosystem.
